Hello everyone! I was pleasantly surprised to find comments on here from some new readers:) Thank you so much for taking time to stop by and hear/read what I have to say. I replied to your comments on the comment section, so please check it out!

I apologize for the lack of content lately. I have so many things going on during the week and so many projects to do around the house, I’ve let my computer take a backseat for awhile. I guess that’s not necessarily a bad thing though! I do plan on getting back into the swing of things soon though, especially now that I know there are people out there in bloggy world reading mine:)

Not a whole lot new has been going on since the holidays. Santa brought Luke a lot of fun and therapeutic toys. I am hoping to post some pictures of them soon. We had a quiet New Years. I stayed up to watch the ball drop, then went to bed! I think my hubby stayed up for a little longer than me, but he wasn’t doing anything exciting. We are getting so old!!

Speaking of which, I also just turned 34 a few weeks ago. My hubby celebrated his birthday 5 days later. He turned 36, so he will always be the “old” one On a personal note, I am happy to be returning to my “Inner Journey” class. When we first moved here 3 years ago, I found this class that discusses looking inward and working on yourself. We talk a lot about spirituality and read some New Age-y type books. We read “The Secret” and “Divine Magic” by Doreen Virtue. I attended 3 terms before I had Luke. The class was mostly older women and one man:) They were all really sweet and even gave me a baby shower! I have kept in touch with a couple of the ladies as well as the teacher. She recently decided to offer a night class, so I am able to go again. I am so happy to be back in the class with like-minded people where we are free to speak our minds and opinions without feeling like we will be judged. The class changed my life and has made me a more positive person.

As far as Luke’s therapy goes, I am starting to feel like we have hit a plateau. He refuses to cooperate with our Early Steps PT when she comes now. She hasn’t really shown us anything new in the past few months. The PT we were seeing at the out-patient rehab quit a few months ago, so we have a new PT. I like her, but she doesn’t show us as many strengthening exercises. She basically just has Luke walk with a push toy and tries to get him to walk while holding onto one finger. I feel like we can do this at home (which we do everyday!) and save ourselves the $25 co-pay once a week. We are seeing another new girl this week, so maybe she will have some new techniques for us. I really think the DAFOs are helping Luke’s form and hopefully making him stronger since he is now working the muscles the correct way.

In pet news, my other cat, Smokey is sick. If it’s not one, it’s the other! He almost died 2 years ago from pneumonia. We managed to save him even though the vets told us if we brought him home, he would die. We are crazy pet people! We went so far as to create an oxygen tent for him and rent a tank to hook up to it. He started showing signs of pneumonia again, so I rushed him back to the vet yesterday. The xrays show fluid/puss etc and he has a mild case of it again. He is back on antibiotics and I’ve been “vaporizing” him in the bathroom once a day. He is nowhere near as sick as last time, thank God! We hopefully won’t have to recreate the tent!

Ok, I feel better now that I updated my blog!! It’s time for me to do some homework for my “Inner Journey” class. Goodnight to everyone in the blogosphere! Keep your wonderful comments coming. I feel like I have found a great purpose in life by sharing these experiences with you.

Hugs!!!

I thought I would combine my posts to wrap up the past week or so. I’ve been slacking on my blog updates:(

Luke has met another “milestone”! He was in the living room a few days ago and was on his knees on the floor playing w/ his 2 favorite stuffed toys on the couch. I walked into the kitchen for literally 4 seconds. When I came back around to walk into the living room, I discovered Luke sitting up on the couch with his toys!! He climbed up on the couch all by himself! I was in complete shock, but so thrilled. He has done it a few times since then and has also managed to climb up into the glider rocker that is still in his bedroom. I love how he seems to do tons of new things all at once!

Well, our city this year has done a great job with offering holiday activities for the kids. Saturday, I actually got hubby out of bed and had us all dressed, fed and ready to go by 11:30am (that is early for us all to be out of the house together!). I had planned on us going to a beautiful state park that is about 20 minutes from our house. They were having a holiday event with vendors, craft projects for the kids, games, Santa, and lots of decorations. Starbucks was also giving out free peppermint hot chocolate, which I was really looking forward to. I was so excited to see how the park looked with all of the decorations up also.

The sky was looking pretty gray when we left our house, but I was hoping that the rain would hold off. Nope! It started pouring about 10 minutes after we left. By the time we got to the park, it was just miserable! We drove through the gate to the park and gave them our toy donation for Toys For Tots (the entrance fee was waived in lieu of a donation). There were still quite a few cars in the park and lots of people walking around, but they were all getting soaked! I saw one man trying to fold up a baby stroller and get it into his trunk and he was not having a good time. We decided we didn’t want to get wet and came home. It continued to rain all day.

There was another holiday parade and festival going on later that same day, but the weather was just not in the mood to cooperate. We didn’t even bother to venture out for that one since it was so gloomy, wet, and miserable.

I was really looking forward to having a fun weekend, but it didn’t work out for us. There are a few other things going on before Christmas, so hopefully we can make it to those without getting drenched!

Our friend’s son had his first birthday party this weekend. He got a huge ball pit with a slide for one of his gifts. Luke had a blast playing in it with the other kids. He was trying to climb in and out of it. We also tried to get him to crawl up the slide. I think he got a great workout because on the way home, he chugged his whole sippy cup of water, which he usually doesn’t do.

I think I may get Luke a ball pit for his birthday or Christmas, but I will definitely get one that is smaller than his friend’s. It took up their whole living room! It’s amazing how many cute toys are available now that I never had as a kid.

How sad is it that Luke is almost two and we had never been shopping at Toys R Us?? We have done plenty of shopping at Target, Wal-Mart, the local consignment shops, and online, but we don’t have a Toys R Us in our city. We drove the 35 minutes to the closest Toys R Us today and made it our weekend family outing.

I hadn’t been in a toy store in forever, so I was overwhelmed! I think I had more fun looking at the toys than Luke (and Daddy) did. He loves to help me in the kitchen and is fascinated with my KitchenAid stand-up mixer, so I got him a cute little toy mixer w/ utensils, a toy microwave that lights up and spins, and a toy Dirt Devil vacuum (he’s also obsessed w/ my vacuum). All of these toys were part of their special “Buy 2, get the 3rd free”, which of course didn’t ring up correctly at the register.

We got home and Luke helped me vacuum. It was so cute!! It was also great because I actually got to vacuum without him trying to catch me. He went behind me (butt scooting) and vacuumed too:)

The owner put me on the “wish list” for those two items. While I was in there, I managed to find some other good stuff. I got about $60 worth of toys for $16, all like brand new! I hate paying full price for plastic toys when I know I can get them in a place like this shop for about 1/4 of the price!
