That was really well said T.
I very much agree that there is SO MUCH labelling & trying to put any child who is not ‘the norm’ into categories.
I think you are doing so well with Luke, staying positive & never putting boundaries on how far he will go is such a good attitude, how anyone can possibly tell what a 22month old can do in the rest of his life is unrealistic so why label him?!
At the same time you are doing everything you can with PT & exercises to help him get there.
Seriously, how on earth did anyone in the old days survive if there wasn’t a Specialist around to give them a diagnosis for any single thing that a child wasn’t doing right on the expected time?! The medical advances we have made are brilliant, & I will forever be grateful for all the medical support & ongoing follow-ups that have been available for Kaia, but I often leave appointments that cost a fortune for 5 minutes of viewing Kaia & telling me he is absolutely fine & normal, thinking ‘yes, I could have told you that myself’. Sometimes I just think perhaps we have taken it all a bit too far, no child is allowed to just ‘be’ anymore.
